REC GAMES LIGUE
We're bringing something new to school sport: American recreational games. Five of them, spread across the whole year, one at a time,
a fresh game every few weeks, each with its own way of moving and its own skill to pick up.
The rules take five minutes to learn, so everyone's playing from session one, whatever their level. And because each game has real depth to it, they work just as well for six-year-olds as they do for teenagers. And adults.
The five games
Dodgeball: Dodging, reflexes, aim. Last team standing wins the round.
Pickleball: Somewhere between tennis and ping-pong, and great for hand-eye coordination. Played in pairs, so you're working with a teammate from the first point.
Kickball: Baseball, but you kick instead of bat. Running the bases, reading the game as it happens.
Wiffle ball: A light plastic ball and bat, so everyone connects, everyone gets a hit, no pressure.
Flag football: No tackling, no diving - just pulling a flag off a belt. The whole team has to talk and think together.
Why it works
Each game builds something different: throwing and dodging, coordination, running and reading the play, teamwork and communication. So across the year, kids aren't drilling the same movement over and over — they're building genuinely all-round athleticism.
They're also games most kids here have never played before, which is half the fun. A whole class learning something brand new together does wonders for group spirit.
Every child gets a proper go at every game over the course of the year - not just a quick try, the whole thing.
Quick facts
For whom: Kids aged 6+. Groups are set by age and level, from the youngest right up to teenagers (and adults)
Bilingual sessions: Conducted in English and Polish, just like our other classes.
Where: In schools and sports venues.
Frequency: Regular weekly sessions.
Equipment: We bring everything, for all five games.
For schools and clubs
We run the Rec Games League as an after-school activity at your venue. We handle the equipment, the coaching and the organisation - you provide the space and the kids.
And once more schools get on board, we're hoping to set up proper inter-school fixtures.
